I prefer local spas to chinese spas because most of chinese-owned spas (like those in richmond) often hassle you into buying tons of packages and products that you don`t need. Here are some of my favorites: In yaletown, Skoah (www.skoah.com) and Oasis Spa (www.oasisspa.ca). Skoah is very clean and modern. The facial and massage are the best and my male friends enjoy it too. but they don`t offer discount package but I usually get the two scoops of skoah. Oasis Spa is quite pricey and catered to rich hippies. I`ve tried the microdermabrasion plus the collagen facial. the results are astouding but it was about 400 tips included. It`s small but I really like the intimate environment and they have done a lot of microdermabrasions so I wasn`t concerned. I tried Absolute spa once but it was very busy and difficult to get a space. I think it was nothing special but the perk is that you have unlimited use to their steam room and swimming pool. My friend gets her facial done at essential day spa www.essentialdayspa.com. its decor is quite old school but prices are good and they also do a very good microdermabrasion. Right now I`m seeing dermatologist for rejeuvenation procedure and hold off facials. probably soon I will try the Beauty Matter Clinic (www.beautymatters.ca), their IPL and microdermabrasion package looks great. one thing is that they all charge taxes and tips extra (I pay 20%). Whereas, asian spas usually don`t charge tax if you pay cash and tips
