Greystone was designed by architect Gordon B. Kaufman and built from 1925 to 1928 by oil magnate Edward L. Doheny Sr. for his son, E. L. Doheny. Originally part of the 414-acre Doheny Ranch, the 46,000-square-foot mansion boasts 55 rooms. (Volume VII, Number 2)
